Arizona Rattlers News Release

MESA, Ariz. - The playoff-guaranteed Arizona Rattlers added two new faces today, Head Coach Kevin Guy announced. QB BRIAN JONES (6-2, 206, Toledo) and OL JASON THOMAS (6-3, 305, Hampton) inked contracts this morning with the franchise.

Rattlers QB Lang Campbell was placed on Injured Reserve today with a sprained ankle, meaning he will miss the team's next three games. QB Jeff Smoker, who played well in relief on Monday night against Los Angeles, will get the starting nod when the Rattlers take on the San Jose SaberCats on Saturday night in Northern California.

Jones is entering his second season in the Arena Football League. He spent last season with the Las Vegas Gladiators (now Cleveland) where he started six games and played in 15. He led the team in passing, completing 152 of 238 passes for 1,824 yards and 25 touchdowns. Jones also won a championship in ArenaFootball2 as the starting quarterback for the Memphis Xplorers in 2005.

Thomas was one of the starting offensive guards for the Chicago Rush last year, where he was coached by Rattlers assistant Tony Bowick. Before joining the AFL, Thomas spent six seasons in the National Football League. Originally a seventh-round choice of the San Diego Chargers in 2000, Thomas spent time with the Baltimore Ravens (2001-04), Miami Dolphins (2005) and attended training camp with the Buffalo Bills in 2006.

OL Calvin Armstrong was placed on recallable waivers to make room for the new additions.

The 2008 Arizona Rattlers have guaranteed their season ticket holders a trip to the playoffs. Season tickets, group tickets and premium single game tickets can be purchased by calling the Rattlers ticket hotline at 602-514-TDTD.
