Rasmussen Traded To Houston

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns, Double-A minor league affiliate of the Miami Marlins, announced today that LHP Rob Rasmussen has been traded to the Houston Astros organization from the Miami Marlins organization. There is no corresponding move at this time.

Rasmussen, who was supposed to start the July 4th game in Kodak, Tennessee, was pulled from the starting lineup upon hearing he had been traded to the Houston Astros organization. In 2012 for Jupiter he has a 3.90 ERA with a 4-7 record, 36 walks and 75 strikeouts. Rasmussen is available for Tuesday's contest in Jacksonville. In 2011, Rasmussen compiled a 12-10 record with a 3.68 ERA in 27 starts for Jupiter. Rasmussen was drafted in the 2nd Round of the 2010 MLB Draft out of UCLA.

Also involved with the trade was former Jacksonville Sun Matt Dominguez, who had been with the Triple-A New Orleans Zephyrs in 2012. In return, the Miami Marlins acquired Houston 1B Carlos Lee.

The Suns roster remains at 23 for now, with the maximum of 25 allowed by the Southern League.
