Marion, Ill. - The Rascals fell to Southern Illinois 8-4 in their first trip to Marion since clinching a Frontier League Championship berth in 2011.

River City (24-19) took a 1-0 lead in the first on a Jeremy Synan two-out RBI single but the Miners would respond with two runs in the first off Rascal starter Adam Worthington (0-2) who battled his way through three innings in just his second start.

Two homeruns in the fourth, one an inside the parker, the other, a two-run shot from former Rascals Chad Maddox stretched the Miner lead to 5-1 before the Rascals responded in the sixth with a pair of runs on three hits, including a sacrifice fly from Charlie Lisk and another run-scoring single from Synan, but left the bases loaded.

Southern Illinois (25-18) answered with a run following a leadoff walk and extended the lead to 8-3 in the seventh.

Lisk and Synan started the eighth with walks but the Rascals plated just one run in the frame to close the gap to the eventual final tally of 8-4.
