River City Rascals News Release

O'Fallon, Mo. - A third-inning grand slam from Crusher outfielder Daniel Bowman, the first homerun of his professional career, was too much for the Rascals to overcome, falling to Lake Erie 11-2, sending River City into fourth place for the first time this season.

The Rascals (26-24) tied the game at one in the second on a Matt Serna RBI single that plated Josh Workman after he reached on a two-out hit-by-pitch.

Lake Erie responded in the third, plating a run on a single that loaded the bases on starter Preston Vancil (2-6) who struck out the next batter but surrendered a grand slam on the first pitch to Bowman that stretched the lead to 6-1.

A homerun from Andrew Davis started the fifth inning before the Rascals got on the board again with a run in the bottom of the frame when Chris Andreas, the only Rascals with a multi-hit game, scored on a groundout from Eric Williams before River City was shut out the final four innings.

The third-straight hit in the eighth inning was a three-run homerun from Jason Taylor to put the game out of reach.

River City will look to salvage a game in the series tomorrow with first pitch set for 6:05. The Crushers will send Eric Gonzalez-Diaz (4-4, 4.33) to the mound against Rascal starter Keli'i Zablan (3-2, 3.75).
