Ogden Raptors News Release
After 6 innings of pitcher's duel, the Raptors found themselves trailing 2-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth, and their bats ignited for 10 unanswered runs, highlighted by a seven-run seventh inning, to surge past the Northern Colorado Owlz 10-2 and grab the opener of the three-game set at Lindquist Field.
The comeback started modestly-True Fontenot drove in Christopher Sargent Jr. with an RBI single to put the Raptors on the board. Then Kyler Stancato blew the roof off, launching a two-run homer to dead center to flip the script and make it 3-2.
But the real damage came an inning later. Ogden sent 13 men to the plate in the seventh, capitalizing on two Owlz errors, four walks, and a barrage of timely hitting. Fontenot stayed hot, singling home another run, while Connor Bagnieksi and Kenneth Oyama each drove in runs via groundouts and free passes.
Fontenot led the way with a 4-for-4 night, scoring twice and knocking in two. Stancato added a pair of hits, three RBIs, and a stolen base. Dylan Wilkinson chipped in with two knocks and an RBI of his own.
On the mound, Eli Elliott earned the win with five innings of two-run ball, and the bullpen trio of Jestin Jones, Cameron Edmonson, and Nik Cardinal slammed the door shut with four scoreless frames.
The win pushes Ogden to 16-15 on the year and sets the tone for the rest of the homestand.
Game 2 continues Wednesday, June 25, at Lindquist Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM, with gates opening at 5:30. Hot dogs are two dollars with the purchase of a large Pepsi product or alcoholic beverage, thanks to Wells Fargo Bank and Hill Air Force Base Appreciation Night.
