Raptors 905 (10-10), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, defeated the Motor City Cruise (9-11) 104-87 Saturday evening. David Johnson led the 905 with a team-high 25 points, six rebounds, three assists, and a steal while shooting 4-6 from three-point range. The Cruise were led by 19 points from Kyler Edwards, who added five rebounds, four assists, and two steals in the loss.
The 905 opened the ball game on a 10-2 run before the Cruise came back with eight straight points. The two teams traded baskets for the remainder of the opening quarter before the 905 took a one-point lead going into the second. The visitors' strong offense allowed them to extend their lead to 12, outscoring the home side 37-26 led by Sterling Brown's 20 first-half points.
The two teams played a back-and-forth third quarter, with the Cruise outscoring the 905 by one entering the final frame. Down 11, the Cruise mounted their comeback bid, but 905 continued to build off their momentum extending their lead by as many as 20 points late in the fourth and sealing the victory in Motor City.
The 905 saw complementary scoring from Raptors' assignees Christian Koloko (16 points, 10 rebounds, four assists) and Dalano Banton (11 points, 10 rebounds, six assists). Jared Rhoden paced Motor City adding 18 points, five rebounds, an assist, and a block.
The 905 return to Paramount Fine Foods Centre for a five-game home stand beginning Mar. 2 against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, tip-off slated for 7:30 pm. Motor City continues their homestand, hosting the Lakeland Magic Monday, tip-off scheduled for 7:00 pm.
