
Rapidz on wrong end of scoreboard in loss

(OTTAWA, ON) Tuesday, July 22, 2008 - Looking to even the series at one game apiece, the Ottawa Rapidz took on manager Cecil Fielder and his Atlantic City Surf Tuesday night at Rapidz Stadium. Unfortunately for the 1,502 fans in attendance, the Rapidz ended up on the losing end of a 9-4 score.
The Surf began the scoring in the top of the third, scoring three runs on three hits to take the lead. Lucas Taylor, Anthony Granato and Brad Thoma all reached base and scored for the 3-0 Surf lead.
The Rapidz answered back with three runs of their own to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth. Kyle Geiger doubled to lead off the inning, was driven home on an RBI single by Jake Daubert and then Pete Pirman hit his fourth homerun of the season to score two more runs to even the score.
The visiting Surf regained the lead thanks to a five-run sixth inning which saw 11 Surf batters reach the plate. Both teams added one more run with the visiting Surf taking a decisive 9-4 victory.
Ottawa hurler Adam Hawes (3-7) was credited with the loss pitching five innings allowing eight runs (all earned) on twelve hits, while walking four and striking out two. Brian Rodaway (6-5) earned the win allowing four runs (all earned) on six hits, with three walks and two strikeouts in seven innings.
The final game of the series will take place Wednesday, July 23 at 7:05 pm with J.C. Huguet (6-2, 4.91 ERA) for the Surf against Tanner Watson (1-3, 5.79 ERA) for the Rapidz. Tomorrow's game will also feature the acclaimed country band Ambush who will be playing a post-game concert sponsored by Y101 Radio.
