(Brockton, Mass., July 22, 2008) Brockton starting pitcher Stevie Delabar (3-2) earned his third victory of the season by dealing an eight inning gem against the Pride to lead Brockton, 2-1, over the Nashua Pride at Campanelli Stadium.

Delabar, who gave up just one run, on six hits, two walks and three strike outs, matched his season high eight innings pitched to set the table for closer Gerry Dunn's 13th save of the season. Dunn gave up a single in the ninth before slamming the door shut on the Pride.

The Rox received offensive contributions from second baseman Melvin Falu, who went 1-for-4 with and RBI double, right fielder Jud Thigpen, who was 1-for-3 with an RBI double, and third baseman Phillip Cuadrado, who finished the game 2-for-4 with a double and the game winning run

Pride starter Hideki Nagasaka (6-3) suffered the loss going seven innings of work, allowing two runs, on seven hits, three walks and five strike outs. Reliever Brett Palanski was the lone man out of the Pride bullpen and pitched a scoreless eighth inning and picked up a strike out.

Pride third baseman Argenis Tavarez was the only man in the Pride line-up to record multiple hits, finishing the game 3-for-4 with Nashua's only RBI.

The Pride and Rox will play game two of their three game series on Wednesday afternoon, at 12:00pm, when Nashua sends right hander Lance Stevens (4-4) to the mound. Brockton will counter with righty John Kelly (2-6).

The Nashua Pride Professional Baseball Club, in its 11th season, provides a fun, affordable, community-based and fan-friendly source of sports entertainment. The 2007 Can-Am League Champions is participating in its third year of play in the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball.
