
Rapids to Host Orlando City in US Open Cup

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Wednesday, May 28, 2014) - The Colorado Rapids will face Orlando City SC of the third-tier USL Professional Division (USL Pro) in a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup fourth round matchup at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Tuesday, June 17 at 7 p.m. MT. Orlando City defeated the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the NASL 4-1 on Wednesday night in a third round match held at the Seminole Soccer Complex in Sanford, Fla., with all five goals coming in the first half. Set to become the newest MLS franchise, joining the league in 2015, Orlando City knocked the Rapids out of the tournament in 2013 with a 3-1 win in Florida en route to an appearance in the tournament's quarterfinals.
Special ticket pricing is in place for the match, with general admission seating on the West side of the stadium for $20 for adults and $15 for children, and in the South and East stands for $15 adults/$10 children. Rapids Season Ticket Holders, partial plan holders, and groups of 10 or more will also receive a 50% discount on all tickets.
The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, an annual knock-out tournament featuring soccer teams from all levels of American soccer (from amateur through MLS), is in its 101styear, making it the oldest continuously-running soccer competition in the United States. The Rapids last hosted a match on July 10, 2007, topping the California Victory 3-1 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
