Rapids Sign Defender Sebastian Anderson as Homegrown Player

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - Colorado Rapids Soccer Club announced today the signing of academy product Sebastian Anderson to a first team Homegrown Player contract. Anderson becomes the youngest player to sign with the club in team history at 16 years old.

"We have been very impressed by Seb's work ethic and willingness to learn," said Rapids Executive Vice President & General Manager, Pádraig Smith. "He took full advantage of the opportunity he was given in preseason and showed a lot of people that he's a smart defender who likes to press up the pitch."

The young right back joined the Rapids Academy in 2017 and featured for the academy's U-17 and U-19 teams. Anderson trained with the first team for the entirety of preseason camp ahead of the 2019 MLS season. Prior to joining the Rapids Academy Anderson played for Real Colorado's U-14 and U-16 teams. Anderson is a junior at Thunder Ridge High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. He becomes the eleventh Homegrown signing in team history and the youngest professional athlete in Denver.
