Know Your Opponent | Colorado Rapids

April 3, 2019 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Orlando City SC News Release

City is back at home for another weekend of action after facing D.C. United on Sunday. This time, the Lions will be hosting Western Conference foe Colorado Rapids Saturday night at 7:30. City will be looking to respond after Sunday's 2-1 defeat while Colorado is just looking to get their first win of the season. Here is what you need to know about the Rapids:

Key Transactions The name most fans will recognize that left Colorado in the offseason is Shkelzen Gashi. Injuries and declining form saw Gashi waived after an impactful start to his time in MLS. Other notable departures included Zac MacMath, Edgar Castillo, and Marlon Hairston.

Colorado shook things up this offseason with a few high profile veteran additions. In came Kei Kamara, Clint Irwin, and Benny Feilhaber. The Rapids also added quality with Diego Rubio in a trade from Sporting KC followed by Keegan Rosenberry in a trade with Philadelphia.

Who's Hot There aren't a lot of individual positives so far. The Rapids have had five different goal scorers through five games. The problem is, of those five, only Kei Kamara has scored more than once and he only has two.

Team Form Colorado has had a slow start to the year that they will want to put behind them. Through five games, the Rapids are sitting on two points with a 0-3-2 record which is good for 9th place in the West. Most concerningly, the Rapids have allowed 12 goals (second worst in the league) and are sporting a -6 goal differential (third worst in the league).

Head-to-Head Colorado has never beaten Orlando City in MLS play. The Lions are 3-0-1 with two wins at home against the Western Conference side. In that four-game stretch, Colorado has only managed to score one goal against the Lions.
