Colorado Rapids News Release

This Wednesday, Colorado Rapids take their unbeaten road record to the only team in MLS that has yet to lose in 2015, New York Red Bulls (kickoff 5:30 p.m on Altitude).

Nick LaBrocca's first goal since July 25 ensured a 1-1 home tie with FC Dallas last Friday. The Red Bulls were also held to a 1-1 home draw, by LA Galaxy, on Sunday evening. Both teams will feel they ought to have emerged with more than the point for their troubles.

This is the only meeting between these two sides in the regular season. They faced each other just the once in 2014, in what was the first game of Pablo Mastroeni's reign as head coach of the Rapids. The Rapids have never won inside Red Bull Arena, managing two ties and two defeats in their previous four visits.

This will be a 39th meeting between the Rapids and the Red Bulls (previously the Metrostars), and the home side historically has the upper hand. The Rapids, though, have enjoyed their share of success on the road, with a 7-9-3 record.

Their last win at the Red Bulls came on May 30, 2009. The 3-2 victory came courtesy of goals from Conor Casey (2) and Mehdi Ballouchy (pen.). That result was the third successive win for the Rapids at the Red Bulls, having won 5-4 (2008) and 1-0 (2007) previously.

The first-ever meeting was May 16, 1996 at Giants Stadium, when the New York/New Jersey MetroStars won 3-0 with a hat-trick from the former Venezuelan international striker Giovanni Savarese, who is now in charge of New York Cosmos.

Shane O'Neill and Dillon Serna will be back in contention. They were not part of the 18 for last Friday's fixture with FC Dallas, having played for the USA U-23s against Mexico in California just 48 hours earlier.

Marcelo Sarvas serves the second game of his two-match ban, handed down retrospectively by the MLS Disciplinary Committee following the home loss to Seattle Sounders FC.

LAST MEETING

In what was a first game in charge for new head coach, Pablo Mastroeni, it was two veterans of the game who shared the goals in the Rapids' opening game of the 2014 season.

Thierry Henry found space to head past rookie debutant John Berner on 57 minutes, only for Vicente Sanchez to calmly slot home a penalty (72') for a 1-1 draw.

Berner was in the lineup due to the absence of injured first-choice Clint Irwin. Mastroeni had also handed a MLS debut to Spanish midfielder Jose Mari.

The Red Bulls included two of the league's big names in Henry and Australian international Tim Cahill.
