Rapids vs. Dynamo All-time: Colorado returns to where it all began this weekend; the club started their 2006 campaign on April 2, at Houston. The Rapids are looking for a point in their second ever trip to Robertson Stadium; they are Rapids are 1-2-0 all-time against the Dynamo and 0-1-0 when playing in Houston.
Rapids 1 Point From Playoffs: The Colorado Rapids can qualify for the playoffs for the fifth straight year this week by beating or drawing with Houston on Saturday. Should the Rapids fail to do either they can still clinch a berth in the playoffs with a Real Salt Lake draw or loss at Chivas on Sunday night.
Remembering Mooch: The Rapids lost a dear friend on Monday, as former Rapids head coach Glenn "Mooch" Myernick passed away from complications due to a heart attack he had suffered a few days before. The Colorado Rapids Community Care Foundation announced that it has set up the "Mooch Myernick Memorial Fund" for fans wishing to make donations or to send items to the Myernick family. The Rapids also announced that the players will be wearing black armbands during Saturday's game in remembrance of Mooch and to honor his memory.
Away Game Viewing Party: The Rapids' official away game viewing party will be held at the British Bulldog at Brodway and Stout. Fans that plan on attending should arrive early to ensure space, as this event is expected to draw a large crowd. Buffalo Wild Wings in Arvada and Champps on Santa Fe Drive have both agreed to show the game for fans in the Arvada and Littleton/Highlands Ranch areas, respectively, for those fans who do not get HDNet.
Rapids Reserves, 2006 Champions: With a record of 9-3-0, the Colorado Rapids Reserves won the second annual MLS Reserve Division. The squad defeated the New York Red Bulls Reserves 3-0 on Sunday to clinch the title. Colin Clark, Clint Mathis and Sasha Gotsmanov scored and Bouna Coundoul and Matt Jordan combined for the shutout.
Rapids Help Fight Drug Abuse: For two straight weeks, beginning this coming Monday, October 16, the Colorado Rapids and the Colorado Army National Guard will again partner to arrange a series of visits to elementary, middle and high schools via military helicopter - landing in school yards all across Colorado's Front Range to promote the Red Ribbon Anti-Drug program among students. Potential Playoff Opponents: There are only two teams the Rapids could match up with in the 2006 Conference Semifinals should they make the playoffs. If the Rapids win and Chivas USA loses this weekend Colorado will play Houston. If either Chivas or the Rapids tie or Chivas wins Colorado will face FC Dallas in the first round for the second straight year. What is known is that the Rapids will play their home leg of the opening round on Sat. Oct. 21 at Invesco Field.
