Peoria Rivermen goalie Kyle Rank has been named the Southern Professional Hockey League's top netminder for the second straight year.
The league announced Tuesday that Rank was named the Sher-Wood Goaltender of the Year after a vote of league coaches, general managers and media representatives. Rank is the first repeat winner of the award.
Rank, a 27-year-old native of Islip, N.Y., compiled a record of 27-12-2 with a 2.40 goals against average and a .916 save percentage. His 27 wins is tied for the second-most in a single SPHL season. Rank registered two regular season shutouts and one playoff shutout.
Rank also received All-SPHL First Team honors and was the only Rivermen player to be named to the league's first or second team.
