
Rangers Win 6-5 in Overtime

Jason Akeson scored the game-winning goal 47 seconds into overtime play to claim a 6-5 victory over the Saginaw Spirit.
The Rangers John Moore opened up scoring at the 7:25 mark on a Kitchener power play, in his first game of the season after recently returning from the Columbus Blue Jackets. Saginaw's Jordan Skellett answered back midway through the period to make it a 1-1 game. The Spirit edged the Rangers at the 11:14 mark with a goal by John Shalla. Chris MacKinnon tied the game with the Rangers second power play goal of the night to close period scoring 2-2.
The Rangers gave up a shorthanded goal at the 3:29 mark of the second period but then followed up with Jeremy Morin netting his second goal of the season to bring the game back to an even 3-3 score. Ivan Telegin gave the Spirit a one goal lead at the 12:44 mark on a Saginaw power play.
Nick Crawford scored his second goal of night midway through the third period to give Saginaw a 5-3 lead. Jeff Skinner netted his sixth goal of the season and the Rangers third power play goal of the evening 20 seconds later to tighten the gap. Moore scored his second goal with 13 seconds left in the period to push the game into overtime. This is the third straight overtime game for the Rangers. Jason Akeson scored the winning goal at 0:47 into the period.
The Rangers travel to Owen Sound for a 7:30pm game tomorrow and then return to The Aud Friday, October 9 to face the Attack once more. Game time is 7:30pm.
