Rangers unload on Attack

Kitchener, ON: The Rangers used a five-goal first period enroute to a convincing 7-4 win tonight over the Owen Sound Attack before a crowd of 5,741 at The Aud.

The Rangers dominated in the first period tallying five goals on just sixteen shots. Justin Azevedo (3), Andre Benoit (6), Evan McGrath (11), Michael Richards (6) and Craig Voakes (7) all scored for the Rangers who led 5-1 after the first period.

In the second Evan McGrath scored his team's 12th goal of the season at 2:57 to make it a 6-1 game. Jonathan Lehun replied for the Attack at 7:31 to cut the Rangers lead to 6-2 after forty minutes.

Paul McFarland started the scoring in the third period with his second of the season at 10:26 while on the power play. Patrick Jarrett and Bobby Ryan added late goals for the Attack to finish the scoring.

Carlo DiRienzo turned aside 33 shots to pick up his fourth win of the season and ran his unbeaten streak to four games.

The Rangers next home game is Friday, November 5th vs the Saginaw Spirit. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at The Aud.

Game Notes: Andre Benoit collected a goal and 3 assists...Evan McGrath picked up a goal and 2 assists and moved to 2nd in the OHL in scoring with 27 points...Benoit was a +5 in the game...both teams were 1/5 on the power play...Bobby Ryan had 2 goals for Owen Sound...Robin Big Snake collected 2 assists for the Attack... Benoit (1st), McGrath (2nd) and Adam Keefe (3rd) were the stars of the game...Owen Sound outshot the Rangers 37-36...Matt Pepe, Mark Fraser, Justin Piquette and Mike Duco each had fighting major's...Michael Richards had 2 points...Adam Keefe chipped in with a pair of assists...the teams combined for 68 PIM's...the Rangers are now 6-2-2 in their last 10 games.
