
Slow Start Leads to Majors Loss

TORONTO, ON â A sluggish start by the Toronto St. Michael's Majors this evening ended up costing them in the end. The Brampton Battalion scored two 1st period goals and skated away with a 3-1 victory. With the loss, the Majors record falls to 5-6-3-1.
Luch Aquino opened up the scoring for Brampton 6:09 into the game when he roofed a shot over goaltender Justin Peters after walking in alone off of Dan McDonald and Phil Oreskovic feeds. Then, with 24 seconds left to play in the opening frame, Ryan Oulahen scored the inevitable game-winner on the power-play. This time, the helpers were credited to Wojtek Wolski and Nick Duff.
Brock McPherson made it a 3-0 game for the visitors only 34 seconds into the 2nd period with Wolski and John de Gray providing support. Ryan Wilson did get the Majors on the board at the 16:32 mark of the 2nd period, on the man-advantage, with a blistering point shot that found the top of the net. The assists went to Matt Halischuk and Cory Vitarelli. However, one goal was all the Majors could muster this evening.
Justin Peters got the start for the Majors and turned aside 28 shots while Kevin Couture stopped 35 for the Battalion. The Majors ended up 1 for 8 on the power-play while the Battalion were 1 for 6. The game's three stars were Wolski (1st), Wilson (2nd) and Couture (3rd).
The Majors will finish off the weekend by entertaining the Barrie Colts on Sunday afternoon (October 31st) at 2:00 pm. The game will be available on Rogers television in the Toronto region (channel 10 or 63) or via webcast at www.stmichaelsmajors.com. Since it's a Halloween tilt, prizes will be awarded for the most extravagantly dressed fans.
