Rangers Topped by Niagara

The visiting Niagara IceDogs beat the Rangers in the last home game of the preseason.

Just over halfway through the 1st period, Niagara's Jake Uberti scored short-handed to give the IceDogs a 1-0 lead. Graham Dickerson responded immediately for the Rangers, as he scored his second goal of the preseason on the powerplay, to tie the game 1-1.

The 2nd period was high scoring and started less than a minute in when Reid Valade scored on a breakaway giving the Rangers a 2-1 lead. Niagara then answered back making it 2-2. Ty Hollett then scored his first of the preseason to regain the lead for the Rangers.

In the back half of the period, four goals were scored in 43 seconds. With Niagara scoring three, they took a 5-4 lead into the second intermission.

Brice Cooke added one more for the IceDogs in the final minutes of the 3rd to extend their lead to 6-4, that being the final.

Our last tune-up before the regular season is Saturday, Oct 2 at Guelph.
