Rangers Sink Spirit

The Kitchener Rangers claimed a 6-2 win over the visiting Saginaw Spirit before a crowd of 6,254 at The Aud.

The Rangers led the first period 2-1 with goals by T.J. Battani and Tyler Randell both on the power play. Battani scored at the 2:32 mark with just 1-second left on the power play to put the Rangers up 1-0. Joe Pleckaitis answered back midway through the period to level the score 1-1. Randell returned the Rangers to a one goal lead at the 18:23 mark.

Battani netted his second goal of the game 24 seconds in to the second period to push the Rangers to a 3-1 lead. T.J. Brodie brought the Spirit within one goal on a Saginaw power play at the 11:56 mark to close out the second period 3-2.

Jeff Skinner scored two-in-a-row to give the Rangers a 5-2 lead by the 6:09 mark of the third period. Jason Akeson closed the game with an empty net goal at the 19:53 mark. The Rangers travel to Sarnia tomorrow to play the Sting at 7:30pm. They return to home ice on Sunday, February 15th when London Knights visit for a 7:00pm game.
