Knights top Otters in a shootout

LONDON, Ont. - Michael Del Zotto scored the shootout winner to lead the London Knights to a narrow 4-3 win over the Erie Otters in an Ontario Hockey League game played tonight in front of 9,090 at the John Labatt Centre. Justin Taylor netted two for the Knights in regulation while McRae had the other. John Carlson collected two assists for the Knights as they ended a four-game losing streak with the win. London is now 38-14-1-2 on the season. Luke Gazdic paced the Otters with two goals while Brian Shaw also scored. Justin Hodgman registered two assists as the Otters gained a point in the standing but dropped to 28-24-2-1 on the season. London led 2-1 after one. The two teams were tied at two after two. Taylor gave the Knights a 3-2 advantage with a power-play goal early in the third only to be answered by Gazdic's second of the game with just over four minutes remaining in regulation. Zack Torquato and Greg McKegg scored in the shootout for the Otters while McRae and Nazem Kadri added penalty shot goals for the Knights. London out shot the Otters 46-38 in the game as Shane Owen took the loss. The three stars of the game were 1. Taylor; 2. Gazdic and 3. Carlson.

The Otters return home tomorrow (Saturday) night when the Kingston Frontenacs visit the Tullio Arena for a 7 p.m. start presented by Kali's. The first 500 fans into the game will receive heart-shaped fudge in honor of Valentine's Day.
