Rangers Look to Continue Rolling in Erie Saturday

Erie, Penn. - The Kitchener Rangers look to earn their third-straight victory, and fourth in their last five games, when the club faces off against the Erie Otters in Pennsylvania Saturday. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. at the Erie Insurance Arena.

Head-to-Head:

Kitchener is 17-6-1-2 in the last five seasons against the Otters and are 8-3-1-0 in Erie. These two teams have played three times season with Erie holding the slight advantage winning two of the three.

Kitchener have won three of their last four games beating Barrie, London, and Ottawa and have grabbed the last playoff spot in the Western Conference. Kitchener are now 4-6-0-0 in their last ten games looking for their third straight victory. Erie sits in 10th place in the Western Conference and are 2-7-1-0 in their last ten games. Erie is coming off a 5-1 loss to Niagara on Thursday night.

Scouting the Rangers:

Facing the Erie Otters brings the best out of Carson Rehkopf who is averaging two points per game against the Otters this season with six points (4G 2A) in three games this season. Hunter Brzustewicz and Francesco Pinelli (Los Angeles Kings) are trailing right behind with five points each in three games.

Simon Motew recorded three assists and a +4 plus/minus rating in his first game back in the Rangers lineup. The Illinois native is now up to 19 points (5G 14A) in 30 games for the Ranger's this season.

Filip Mešár (Montréal Canadiens) broke out of an eight-game goalless streak on Friday night with a spectacular solo effort finishing off the play with a wrist shot off the post and in. The 2022 first round pick is now up to 26 points (11G 15A) in as many games.

Captain Francesco Pinelli (Los Angeles Kings) extended his point streak to five games with a goal Friday night and is now up to seven points (5G 2A) in that span. Reid Valade scored twice Friday night giving him points in three straight with all four points being goals. Reid now has 35 points (22G 13A) in 39 games and is third on the Rangers in goals.

Francesco Arcuri (Dallas Stars), Tomáš Hamara (Ottawa Senators), Filip Mešár (Montréal Canadiens), Francesco Pinelli (Los Angeles Kings), Roman Schmidt (Tampa Bay Lightning) and Danny Zhilkin are six Kitchener skaters that are both drafted, and signed, by their NHL clubs respectively.

Scouting the Otters:

In three games against Kitchener this season Kaleb Smith leads the Otters with five points (2G 3A) while Carey Terrance and Malcom Spence have also been a thorn in the Rangers side this season with four points each.

Malcolm Spence ranks 10th amongst all rookies in points this season. The 2025 draft eligible forward has 23 points (9G 14A) in 38 games this season.

The Otters are lead in points by Brett Bressette who has 36 points (13G 23A) in 32 games, however, Brett has yet to suit up for a game in 2023 for the Otters. His 23 assists lead the roster this season. Carey Terrance leads the way in goals with 18 goals to go along with 10 assists this season.

Nolan Lalonde (Columbus Blue Jackets) has suited up for all three games against the Rangers this season owning a 2-1-0-0 record, 5.20 goals against average, and 0.854 save percentage.

Liam Gilmartin (San Jose Sharks) and Nolan Lalonde (Columbus Blue Jackets) are the two Erie skaters that are drafted by their NHL clubs respectively.

Saturday evening's contest will not be televised on Rogers TV, cable 20. The contest can be watched across the province of Ontario on the Super Sports Pack on channel 468 for cable subscribers. The game will be streamed live online in a web browser at OHLLive.com, and on the CHL App for mobile devices including smart TV's such as including Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire.
