2022-23 BATTALION REGULAR-SEASON SUMMARY

FIRST GOAL: The Battalion is 21-0-1 when scoring the first goal of a game and 10-11-1 when the opposing team scores first.

AFTER TWO PERIODS: The Battalion is 23-1-1 when leading after two periods, 1-10-0 when trailing after the second, and 7-0-1 when tied at the end of the second.

ONE-GOAL DECISIONS: The Battalion is 8-5-2 in games decided by one goal.

OFFENCE: The Battalion ranks 2nd in OHL scoring with an average of 4.30 goals per game (189 in 44 games), trailing the Windsor Spitfires at 4.60 (201 in 44 games).

DEFENCE: The Battalion has the 2nd-best defensive record in the OHL, allowing an average of 2.89 goals per game (127 against in 44 games). The Ottawa 67's lead with an average of 2.44 (105 against in 43 games).

POWER PLAY: The Battalion is tied with Hamilton for 11th in power-play efficiency with a scoring percentage of 21.5. The Troops have scored 35 goals on 163 opportunities.

PENALTY KILLING: The Battalion is 1st in penalty-killing with an effectiveness of 86.4 percent. The Troops have allowed 24 power-play goals during 177 times shorthanded.

PENALTY MINUTES: The Battalion is the 11th-most penalized team in the OHL, averaging 11.5 minutes per game.

EVEN STRENGTH: The Battalion has scored 154 goals at even strength or when shorthanded, and surrendered 103 goals at even strength or with the man advantage.

The Battalion is 12 points ahead of its pace of 2021-22 when the Troops finished first in the Central Division and third overall in the OHL with a record of 43-18-7 for 93 points in 68 games. The Battalion won 7-1 over the visiting Niagara IceDogs in its 45th game last season.

TROOPS AMONG OHL LEADERS:

MATVEY PETROV: Left winger Petrov has 20 goals and 42 assists for 62 points in 43 games and is tied for 3rd in the OHL scoring race. He's 2nd in assists (42), and tied 5th in power-play assists (17) and plus-minus (+25).

KYLE JACKSON: Overage centre Jackson has 25 goals and 36 assists for 61 points in 44 games and is tied for 5th in the OHL scoring race. He is tied for 5th in game-winning goals (5), tied 7th in assists (36) and is 11th in goals (25).

TY NELSON: Defenceman Nelson has 15 goals and 38 assists for 53 points in 44 games and is 2nd in goals (15), assists (38) and points (53) by OHL rearguards. He leads all players with 219 shots on goal, is 6th among all players in assists (38), and tied for 12th in the OHL scoring race (53 points).

JOSH BLOOM: Left winger Bloom has 22 goals and 27 assists for 49 points in 46 games with the Battalion and Saginaw Spirit. He is tied for the league-lead with three shorthanded goals.

DALYN WAKELY: Centre Wakely has 20 goals and 12 assists for 32 points in 44 games. He is tied for 11th in the OHL with four game-winning goals.

KYLE McDONALD: Overage right winger McDonald has 19 goals and eight assists for 27 points in 21 games and is tied for 5th in game-winning goals (5).

PAUL CHRISTOPOULOS: Defenceman Christopoulos has two goals and 16 assists for 18 points in 44 games and leads the OHL in plus-minus (+37).

NIKITA TARASEVICH: Right winger Tarasevich has 11 goals and 19 assists for 30 points, all career highs, in 43 games. He is tied for the OHL lead with three shorthanded goals.

DOM DiVINCENTIIS: Goaltender DiVincentiis is 24-6-1 with a 2.52 goals-against average and .910 save percentage. He leads all netminders in wins (24), and is 2nd in average (2.52) and save percentage (.910).
