
Rangel Logs Quality Start, M-Braves Top Blue Wahoos 7-2 in Series Finale

Rangel posts six innings of two-run ball, Moritz extends hit streak to nine games BOX SCORE PENSACOLA, FL - RHP Alan Rangel went six innings in his longest outing of the season, and the Mississippi Braves (23-22) topped the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (20-20) 7-2 in the series finale on Sunday at Blue Wahoos Stadium.
The M-Braves took five of six in the series, winning their fourth straight and seven of the last eight games.
Rangel went six innings, giving up two runs off three hits with no walks and five strikeouts. The outing was his longest of the season after going five innings in three straight starts. The right-hander improved to 2-1 with a 4.54 ERA in 40 innings over nine starts.
Trey Harris brought in the first run of the game with a groundball to right field in the second.
Tied at 2 in the fourth, CJ Alexander led off the inning with a base hit. Jalen Miller followed by ripping a double down the left field line to score Alexander and make it 3-2.
Miller went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. In 16 games in May, Miller is batting .306 with three homers and 16 RBI.
The M-Braves added two more in the fifth off a Drew Lugbauer single and an Alexander sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 5-2.
Lugbauer went 6-for-25 with two home runs and eight RBI in the series and is currently on a five-game hitting streak.
Alexander finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs. In May, Alexander has seven home runs and 19 RBI in 22 games.
In the sixth, Andrew Moritz made it 7-2 with a two-run double to center field.
Moritz notched two hits, a double and two RBI from the leadoff spot. He extended his hit streak to nine games, the team's longest active streak.
RHP Coleman Huntley III tossed two scoreless innings and RHP Tyler Ferguson navigated a shutout ninth to finish off the 7-2 win.
