Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The Quakes welcomed a new opponent to LoanMart Field on Monday night, but it was a familiar result by the time it was all said and done. The Quakes won their sixth straight game overall and improved to 5-0 at home this year with a 13-8 win over the Lancaster JetHawks.

Rancho scored a season-high seven runs in the first inning of play, then watched as Lancaster nearly rallied to tie the game before the Quakes tallied six in the sixth to put the game away.

Cody Bellinger and Tyler Ogle both hit first-inning homers, as the Quakes lit up Lancaster starter Edison Frias (2-1), who had previously been unscored upon over his first two outings.

Leading 7-0 after one inning, the game looked over, but the JetHawks would rally. Lancaster put two on the board against Quakes' starter Johnathan Richy in the second, then added four more in the third, pulling to within a run at 7-6.

The game remained a one-run affair until the sixth, when Rancho finally got the bats going again and capitalized on a pair of Lancaster errors to take a commanding 13-6 lead. Kyle Farmer, Jarek Cunningham and Ogle all had run-scoring hits in the inning, with Ogle's two-run hit capping the frame, helping Rancho tie a season-high for runs scored.

Lancaster got a run in the seventh and another in the eighth, but that's as close as they'd get, as Jacob Rhame retired the side in order in the ninth, locking down Rancho's sixth straight win.

Victor Araujo (1-1) notched the win with three scoreless innings of relief, after Richy was pulled after three innings.

Yadir Drake, just called up from Great Lakes on Monday, finished with two hits and an RBI in his Quakes' debut.

The Quakes (9-3) looks for a seventh straight win on Tuesday, sending Zack Bird (2-0) to the mound against Lancaster's Michael Feliz (1-1). Game time on Tuesday is 7:05pm.

Tuesday's game is our first Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday of the year, as fans that bring ten CRV-eligible bottles and cans to the ballpark can score a FREE Club Seat to the game. Tickets are available at (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com.
