Rampage's Ryan Placed on Injured Reserve

Grand Rapids Rampage News Release

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Rampage of the Arena Football League announced today that fullback/linebacker Chris Ryan, the team's all-time leading rusher, will miss at least the next eight weeks due to an ankle injury suffered in Sunday's victory over the New York Dragons.

Ryan (6-0, 315, Clark) suffered a dislocation of his right ankle during the first quarter of the team's home opener. X-rays on Ryan's ankle were negative, but the ligament damage that was caused will keep him out until at least week 12 of the AFL season. He joins fellow FB/LB Travis McDonald and lineman Rickie Simpkins on Grand Rapids' injured list.

Before his injury, the fourth-year pro was well on his way to leading the Rampage in rushing for a fourth consecutive season. Through the first three games, Ryan leads the Rampage in rushing attempts (8), yards (44) and touchdowns (2). He also has contributed two tackles and a fumble recovery for a touchdown on defense.

Last season, Ryan was honored with the Rampage Coaches' Award, which honors a player for his performance both on and off the field. He was also named to the AFL's All-Ironman Team for the first time in his career.

Minus the services of Ryan, the Rampage (3-0) face the Tampa Bay Storm (1-2) this Sunday afternoon at Van Andel Arena. The game, which kicks off at 3 p.m., can be seen live on WOOD-TV (Channel 8) and heard live on WBBL 1340 AM.
