Grand Rapids Rampage News Release

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Arena Football League announced today that Grand Rapids Rampage wide receiver/linebacker Ricky Ross has been selected as the AFL's Ironman of the Week for his week three performance.

Ross (5-11, 183, Missouri), who has helped lead the Rampage to three straight victories, returned kickoffs of 56 and 57 yards (tied team record for longest kickoff return) in the 66-63 come-from-behind victory over the New York Dragons this past Sunday. In addition to becoming the first Rampage player to return multiple kickoffs for scores in a game, Ross also caught two catches for 19 yards on offense, and five tackles and a forced fumble on defense. This marks the first time in Ross' three-year AFL career that he has garnered league-wide honors.

The former Missouri Tiger has filled in quite nicely for his friend and mentor Michael Baker, who retired during the offseason. Through three games this season, Ross has returned a fumble, a missed field goal and the two kickoffs for scores. He also has caught seven passes for 53 yards and a touchdown.

Ross and the Rampage, who currently are tied for the AFL's Central Division lead, face the Tampa Bay Storm (1-2) this Sunday afternoon at Van Andel Arena. The game, which kicks off at 3 p.m., can be seen live on WOOD-TV (Channel 8) and heard live on WBBL 1340 AM.
