San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO (October 15, 2008) - The San Antonio Rampage got a pair of goals from forward Alex Bourret as they topped the Chicago Wolves 2-1 at the AT&T Center on Wednesday night. The Rampage evened their record at 1-1-0-0 as they defeated the defending Calder Cup Champions.

San Antonio got on the scoreboard first as defenseman David Schlemko slipped a nice pass right up the middle to Bourret who made a terrific move to hop around the Wolves defense at the blue line and finish it with a wrist shot low stick side for a 1-0 lead at 12:50. The Wolves tied it with less than three minutes to go in the period as forward Joey Crabb muscled out in front and squeezed a backhander into the net short side.

Late in the second period Bourret struck again, this time on a power play. Forward Derek Nesbitt snapped a shot from the top of the right circle that was stopped, but Bourret pounced on the rebound and pumped it home with just 5.4 seconds left in the frame for his second of the night and a 2-1 lead.

In the third Rampage goalie Josh Tordjman made a huge save as he stopped forward Joe Motzko on a breakaway seven minutes into the period. San Antonio then survived a two-man disadvantage in the final minute of the game to hold on for the win. FINAL SCORE San Antonio 2, Chicago 1.

Tordjman stopped 23 of 24 shots in 60 minutes to get the win. Wolves goalie Ondrej Pavelec gave up two goals on 34 shots and took the loss.

The Rampage were 1-5 on the power play while Chicago was 0-8. San Antonio out shot the Wolves 34-25.

The Rampage travel to Houston to play the Aeros on Saturday for their first road game of the season. The game will be broadcast on 92.5 FM The Outlaw due to a conflict on The Ticket 760 AM.

San Antonio returns home on Sunday to take on the Aeros at 5 p.m. at the AT&T Center. It is the first Express-News Family Value Night of the season. Fans can get a game ticket, hot dog, soda and a bag of chips for just $12. There will also be a pre game skate from 3-4 p.m.
