San Antonio Rampage News Release
DES MOINES - The San Antonio Rampage rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the Iowa Wild 3-2 in front of 4,787 at Wells Fargo Arena. Nikita Zadorov tallied the game-winning goal in the third period, earning him the First Star of the Game. Colin Smith contributed one goal and one assist to take home the Second Star of the Game.
San Antonio started the scoring with a Smith goal in the 12th minute of the first stanza. Mikko Rantanen dragged multiple Wild defenders off the net, leaving a trailing Smith with an uncontested shot. The Wild answered with a goal of their own minutes later, as Grayson Downing was able to finish a loose puck in front of the net to score on Roman Will.
With the game tied at one, the Wild took the lead with a Mike Reilly power-play goal in the sixth minute of the second period. The puck slipped past Will, as he was delayed getting to the back post. San Antonio answered five minutes later when Reid Petryk put the puck past Iowa goaltender Jeremy Smith. Petryk's goal was his first recorded point in the month of December.
Zadorov gave San Antonio the lead with 6:24 remaining in the contest, firing a pass from Colin Smith past Jeremy Smith, and the Rampage held on to take a 3-2 win.
The Silver and Black finished 0-for-2 on the power play while holding the Wild to one goal on five opportunities with the man advantage..
