San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 18, 2016) - The San Antonio Rampage (7-9-0-0) scored three unanswered goals en route to a 3-1 victory over the Charlotte Checkers (7-5-1-0) at the AT&T Center Friday night.
The Silver and Black finished the night with the First, Second, and Third Stars of the Game to record their first win of the season on home ice. Defenseman Matt Lashoff skated in his 300th AHL game, while forward Joe Whitney registered his 250th professional point.
Charlotte tallied the first goal of the game when Phil Di Giuseppe snuck the puck between Spencer Martin's wickets, giving the Checkers a 1-0 lead 2:44 into the period.
Despite having their first-period goal disallowed, San Antonio lit the lamp just 37 seconds into the second frame when Gabriel Bourque capitalized on passes from Duncan Siemens and Joe Whitney. Bourque's second Rampage goal serves as the fastest goal from the start of the period this season.
Sam Henley landed the game winner at the 16:08 mark in the third period off a pass from Shawn St. Amant. St. Amant recorded his first AHL point as Henley landed his first goal of the season. San Antonio secured their victory at the 19:10 mark, when Rocco Grimaldi forced a Charlotte turnover and scored on the empty net.
