San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 22, 2015) - The San Antonio Rampage announced today that forward Ben Street has been named the team's captain for the 2015-16 season. Forwards Andrew Agozzino (ag-uh-ZEEN-oh) and Marc-Andre Cliché (KLEESH) and defensemen Mat Clark and Maxim Noreau (NORO) will split duties as assistant captains with Agozzino and Noreau serving as alternates for home games and Cliché and Clark serving for road games.
Street, 28, is the 13th player to don the 'C' for the Rampage. He has seven points (1G, 6A) in three games with the Rampage this season, which ranks in a tie for third in the AHL. Now in his sixth season of professional hockey, which have been spread among the Pittsburgh Penguins (2010-12), Calgary Flames (2012-14) and Colorado Avalanche (2014-present) organizations, Street is coming off a 2014-15 campaign in which he tallied nine goals and 30 assists in 44 games.
"It's an honor, and I'm excited about it," said Street. "This is really good group. I'm more of an extension of a leadership group that's seven or eight guys deep."
Agozzino, 24, has notched four goals and three assists through San Antonio's first three games of the season. Entering his fourth professional season, he led the Lake Erie Monsters in scoring last year with 30 goals and 34 assists. Agozzino made his NHL debut last season and tallied an assist in a 4-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Nov. 22.
Maxim Noreau, 28, is entering his second season with the Avalanche organization. He tallied eight goals and 22 assists last season and has a goal and two helpers in San Antonio's first three games of the 2015-16 campaign. No stranger to the state of Texas, Noreau spent the majority of four seasons (2007-11) with the Houston Aeros.
Cliché, 28, enters his ninth season of professional hockey, the majority of which have been with the Los Angeles Kings organization. He spent the last two seasons with the Avalanche, tallying three goals and 11 assists in 150 games. In three contests with the Rampage, he has picked up two assists.
Clark, 25, enters his sixth season of professional hockey and first full season with the Avalanche organization. He was acquired by the Avalanche in a late-season trade on March 2 and played in 21 games with Lake Erie last season.
The Rampage host the Stockton Heat in their home opener on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center. San Antonio will give away 2,500 co-branded Avalanche-Rampage mini hockey sticks, and 10 random fans will receive a stick autographed by NHL Hall-of-Famer and Colorado Avalanche Executive Vice President and General Manager Joe Sakic. Individual and season tickets are available and can be purchased by calling a Rampage representative at 210-444-5554 or online at sarampage.com.
