Rampage Host Salute To The Badges Night This Saturday

SAN ANTONIO (January 19, 2010) - Fire and ice collide when the San Antonio Rampage honor local firefighters and law enforcement officers at their 6th Annual Salute to the Badges Night this Saturday as the Rampage host the Milwaukee Admirals at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center.

The event is a joint effort between the Rampage and local fire and law enforcement departments to raise money and awareness for the Alamo Area Fire and Police Memorial (AAFPM). The Rampage will wear specially designed jerseys that will be auctioned off to the public following the game. A portion of the proceeds from the auction and ticket sales will benefit the Memorial.

Tickets for children 12 and under are only $5 and include a child identification kit.

Various fire and police vehicles will be on display prior to the game including a San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) helicopter. The SAPD mascot, McGruff the Crime Dog, will also be on hand.

Representatives from the Bexar County Sheriff Office (BCSO) will drop the ceremonial first puck to start the game and throughout the night the Rampage will honor fallen service members from local fire and law enforcement departments. During the second intermission, fans can enjoy a Tug-O-War contest between the San Antonio Fire Department (SAFD), SAPD and BCSO.

The AAFPM is dedicated to building a memorial, planned for the corner of Alamo and Market Streets, in memory of local men and women that gave their lives for Bexar County. The memorial will feature names of both full-time and volunteer firefighters and law enforcement officials that have died in the line of duty.
