Abbotsford Heat News Release

SAN ANTONIO TX - Vancouver product Bracken Kearns earned the `Gordie Howe Hat Trick', scoring a goal, adding an assist and taking a vicious beating from Matt Pelech. But the son of the former Vancouver Canucks defenseman Dennis Kearns will take it as his San Antonio Rampage doubled up the Abbotsford Heat 4-2 in a mid morning game here at the home of the Alamo.

The Heat would open and close the scoring in this game, as Aldergrove's Matt Keith opened the scoring, tipping home a point blast from Delta's Keith Seabrook to open the scoring just 2:43 into the first period. For Keith, it was his team leading 14th goal of the season.

Before the period was over, Pelech and Kearns would drop the gloves in what would be a decidedly one-sided affair as Matt Pelech filled Kearns in with a series of overhand and upper cut rights. The two players would hit the penalty box and the two teams hit the break with the Heat up 1-0.

In the second period, Kearns leveled the game at 1-1, finding a loose puck out in front of the Heat goal and slapping it past Heat keeper JP Lamoureux on a Rampage power play. Mid-way thru the second, Kearns was at it again, setting up Alexandre Picard from behind the Heat net to give the home squad a 2-1 advantage after two periods of play.

In the third, Rampage leading scorer Brett MacLean provided insurance, tucking in a pretty feed from Mathieu Beaudoin early in the third to up the Rampage lead to 3-1. Late in the game on a Heat power play and with the Heat goal empty, Jonas Anhelov would flip a shot the length of the ice and into the Heat's empty net to put the Rampage up by three. On the same power play moments later, T.J. Brodie wrapped up the game scoring, potting a late power play goal to make the final score 4-2.

J.P. Lamoureux would take his first loss in Abbotsford, falling to 3-1-0-1 on the season, while Al Montoya picked up the win for the Rampage. The Heat now sport a record of 1-2 on this ten game trip and will look to even the trip with a game on Friday versus the Houston Aeros (Minnesota Wild affiliate).

You can catch all of the action on Country107.1 FM. Dave Sheldon will have the call of the game at 5:30 PM, with the pregame show kicking off at 5:15 PM, this Friday from the Lone Star State.
