San Angelo Colts News Release
San Angelo, Texas---Maybe the unlikeliest of power threats in the Colts lineup, Mark Ramos, hit a three-run walkoff home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to give the Colts an 11-8 win over the Rio Grande Valley White Wings at Foster Field Saturday night.
It was a back and forth game throughout but, the Colts got the scoring started in an obscure bottom of the first inning when two runs came home due to three errors, all on White Wings first baseman Wesley Dimitt. After Rio Grande Valley got one back in the second, Davis Page (2) smacked a three-run home run to right field to extend San Angelo's lead to 5-1.
While it looked like the Colts had the game in hand, the White Wings did not go away. Rio Grande Valley tied the game at five in the sixth and after the Colts took a 7-5 lead in the bottom of the inning, David Peralta (5) hit a two-run home run to tie the game at seven going to the eighth.
The teams traded solo home runs in the ninth inning, Peralta going deep for a second time for Rio Grande Valley, while Daryl Jones (8) left the yard for San Angelo to tie it at eight. In the bottom of the tenth, Danny Hernandez singled with two outs and after Ronnie Gaines was hit by a pitch, Ramos delivered the fireworks.
Sean Kramer (1-1, 7.71) picked up the win in relief for San Angelo, while Danny Rondon (1-1, 4.22) was hit with the loss for Rio Grande Valley.
Sunday night the Colts will send Chandler Barnard (2-1, 3.79) to the mound against the White Wings' left-hander Chase Davenport (1-2, 5.40). It will be Weinermania at Foster Field, presented by New Beginning Animal Rescue, so bring your weinerdogs out to the ballpark for a 6:05 PM first pitch!
