Ramon, Short Homer in Fielders 5-2 Loss

Kenosha, WI - The Lake County Fielders fell to the Winnipeg Goldeyes 5-2 Wednesday night fans at Carthage College in Kenosha, WI.

The Goldeyes got an early jump on the Fielders and starting pitcher Ryan Bicondoa, scoring two runs in the top of the first. Lead off batter Wes Long was hit by a pitch, Eggelston walked and Juan Diaz singled to load the bases. Two consecutive RBIs from Kevin West and Vince Harrison scored Long and Eggelston.

West tallied up his second RBI of the game in the third to tag on another run for the Goldeyes. Fielders 3B Amos Ramon answered back with a solo home run, his second in as many games to bring the score 3-1 going into the fourth.

Josh Asanovich homered in the fourth for the Goldeyes followed by a home run off the bat of Juan Diaz in the fifth; his fourth home run against the Fielders this year.

Fielders LF Josh Short hit his seventh home run of the year off of Mark Holliman in the bottom of the six; a solo shot to bring the score 5-2. Ramon and Short both went two for four on the night.

Bicondoa (0-2) took the loss for the Fielders in his second start, pitching five innings and giving up five earned runs. Holliman (3-1) grabbed the win for the Goldeyes. In seven innings of work, Holliman gave up six hits and two earned runs.

The series continues Thursday night at Carthage College in Kenosha, WI at 7:00pm.The Fielders will send RHP Zach Ward (1-3, 2.96) opposite LHP Chris Salamida (2-2, 3.32).
