SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - The Rockford RiverHawks led from the second batter of the game to the end of the night and beat the Schaumburg Flyers, 10-4, on Wednesday at Alexian Field.

Former Chicago Cub Randall Simon hit his third home run in two nights for the RiverHawks, who took the last two games of three-game series and have won four of five.

The RiverHawks struck early. Kevin House led off the game with a double to right-center field. David Cooper bunted to third base, but Brandon Newton's wild throw turned an infield hit into a three-base play and allowed House to score. In the second inning, Evan McArthur hit a sacrifice fly and Cooper singled in a two-out run. Simon made it 4-0 with a leadoff homer, his sixth of the year, in the third inning.

Rockford starter Brett Durand (4-1) struck out a season-high seven batters in seven innings for the win. The only run allowed by Durand was on a bases-loaded walk to Richard Mercado in the third inning. Durand walked three batters for the first time in two seasons with the RiverHawks.

Schaumburg starter Todd Moser (1-4) left the game after he issued back-to-back, bases-loaded walks to Travis Scott and Jake Eigsti in the fifth inning.

The RiverHawks host Olympian Jennie Finch and the Chicago Bandits of National Pro Fastpitch, a women's professional softball team, in the Battle of the Sexes at 7:05 p.m. Thursday. It's a Miller Lite/2nd Cousin's Dollar Beer Night. The game is scheduled for broadcast on ESPN 1380 and ESPN1380.com.
