Ramistella, Vicaro Are League's Weekly Best

DURHAM, NC - PA Sportsticker, the official statistician of the Can-Am League, has selected Nashua Pride OF John Ramistella and New Jersey Jackals RHP Michael Vicaro as Batter and Pitcher of the week, respectively, for July 9th-July 15th.

In four games, Ramistella hit .438 with two home runs and four RBI in 16 at-bats. He also added a double, scored seven runs and had a .526 on-base percentage. This past Friday against the Quebec Capitales, Ramistella had a solid game going 2-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI and four runs scored. The Monterey, CA resident is currently batting .239 with eight home runs, 22 RBI and 42 hits in 46 games played.

Ramistella was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 35th round of the 2000 MLB draft. Along with playing in the Yankees farm system for two seasons he also played with independent league teams such as Amarillo, Coastal Bend, Chillicothe, and his present team, Nashua.

Vicaro is the fourth different New Jersey player to receive a Player of the Week award this season. In two starts, Vicaro went a perfect 2-0 allowing seven hits and five walks while striking out 10 in 14 innings pitched. For the season, the 23-year-old is 6-2 with a 2.51 ERA in 57 1/3 innings pitched. He has 54 strikeouts in 57 1/3 innings pitched and is holding opponents to a .175 batting average.

The Randolph, NJ resident is in his second season of professional baseball, both with the Jackals. Vicaro is a combined 7-2 with a 3.47 ERA in 20 games played.
