
Ramirez Solid in 3-0 Shutout over Corpus Christi

FRISCO, TEXAS - The Frisco RoughRiders shut out the Corpus Christi Hooks 3-0 Saturday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Frisco ended their four-game losing streak and avoided the sweep against the Hooks.
Scoreless after 4.5 innings, Odubel Herrera doubled to left to lead off the fifth. Ryan Strausborger hit a sacrifice bunt to advance Herrera to second, and then Zach Zaneski hit a one-out groundout to bring home Herrera as the 'Riders (38-30) took a 1-0 lead.
Teodoro Martinez led off the sixth with a single to right and Guilder Rodriguez walked. Tomas Telis knocked an RBI single, and then Herrera singled to center to bring Rodriguez home, extending the Frisco lead 3-0.
After clinching the Texas League South Mid-Season the night before, Corpus Christi (42-26) struggled against the Frisco pitching. Neil Ramirez, Richard Bleier and Ben Rowen combined for a total of 13 strikeouts and gave up just three hits.
Ramirez (8-2) pitched six scoreless innings, striking out 10, which was one short of his season-high, and allowed just two hits to earn the victory. David Martinez (9-1) suffered his first loss of the season, though he gave up just one run off three hits and struck out four. Rowen came on in the ninth to be credited with his tenth save.
The RoughRiders open a four-game series with the Midland RockHounds Sunday at 4:05 p.m. at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Kevin Pucetas (7-5, 4.61 ERA) makes the start for the 'Riders, and will face Sean Murphy (3-2, 4.88 ERA).
