Rainiers Win Streak Snapped By 5-3 Loss To Storm Chasers

TACOMA, Wash. - The Tacoma Rainiers (33-34) dropped game two against the Omaha Storm Chasers (30-35) by a final score of 5-3 on Thursday night at Cheney Stadium.

Second baseman Danny Muno led the offense with a 2-for-4, two double performance - he collected a run and drove in one RBI. Center fielder Ian Miller (1x3, 2B, BB) and right fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis (1x2, R, 2 BB) reached base twice, while third baseman Seth Mejias-Brean (1x4) extended his on-base streak to 14 games.

Tacoma starting pitcher Ljay Newsome, making his Triple-A debut, worked five innings and allowed three runs on three hits. He tossed 78 pitches (55 strikes), issued one walk, and struck out two.

Tucker Healy (1.1 IP) and Shawn Armstrong (1.0 IP) both logged scoreless outings from the Rainiers bullpen - the duo combined for three strikeouts. Ashton Goudeau (1.0 IP) and Anthony McIver (0.2 IP) both allowed a run on three total hits.

The series between the Rainiers and Storm Chasers wraps up on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. PT. Tacoma right-handers Casey Lawrence (4-2, 2.62) will face off against Omaha righty Josh Staumont (1-1, 1.59).
