Round Rock Express News Release
ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Pacific Coast League announced this week that Round Rock Express Coach Geno Petralli has been named to the league's field staff for the 2018 Triple-A All-Star Game in Columbus, Ohio. Iowa's Marty Pevey will serve as the squad's manager while Fresno's Dyar Miller will act as the pitching coach. Nashville trainer Brad LaRosa rounds out the PCL staff.
"It's pretty awesome for me. I'm tickled to death to be a part of it," Petralli said. "To represent our club means a lot. It's going to be a fun event and I'm really looking forward to it."
The former Texas Rangers catcher is currently in his fourth season as a member of E-Train manager Jason Wood's coaching staff. Petralli returned to the game in 2015 for the first time since 1994 when he served as a roving instructor in the Chicago Cubs organization upon the conclusion of his playing career.
Petralli appeared in 809 games at the major league level over 12 seasons from 1982-1993, including nine seasons with the Rangers. His 556 games behind the plate for Texas still ranks third-most in franchise history. He signed with the Rangers as a free agent in 1985 and appeared with the club each season through 1993. Petralli was originally drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the third round of the 1978 MLB Draft.
The 31st annual Triple-A All-Star Game is set for Wednesday, July 11 at 6:00 p.m. CDT at Huntington Park, home of the Columbus Clippers. The game will be broadcast live on MiLB.tv. All-Star festivities begin with the Triple-A All-Star Home Run Derby and Skills Competition on Monday, July 9.
