Rainiers Drop Game Two To Aces, 14-8

TACOMA, Wash. - The Tacoma Rainiers (42-40) fell to the Reno Aces (38-44) by a final score of 14-8 Saturday night at Cheney Stadium despite managing 14 hits, eight walks and 21 total bases.

Designated hitter Daniel Vogelbach finished the night 1-for-2 with three runs, a home run, two RBI and four walks to lead the Rainiers offense. Right fielder Andrew Aplin (3x4, 3 RBI, BB), catcher David Freitas (2x4, 2B, 2 RBI, BB) and center fielder John Andreoli (2x5, 2 R) also had prolific nights at the plate for Tacoma during the loss.

Tacoma starter Ross Detwiler allowed five runs across 3.1 innings Saturday night while striking out four Reno hitters. He did not factor into the decision and threw 96 pitches, 54 of which were for strikes.

Relievers Ashton Goudeau (1.2), Darin Gilles (3.0) and Ryan Garton (1.0) combined to allow nine earned runs across 5.2 innings out of the Tacoma bullpen - the group combined for seven strikeouts. Goudeau (1-5) was saddled with the loss, his fifth of the year.

The Rainiers and Aces return to action Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. Right-hander Williams Perez (0-0, 0.00) will take the mound for Tacoma to face Reno righty Taylor Clarke (8-5, 4.01).
