Losing Skid Hits Five Straight

The Salt Lake Bees dropped their fifth consecutive game, as they fell 15-2 to the Las Vegas 51s on Saturday night.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning, Las Vegas broke the game open with six runs in the third. Former Bee Zach Borenstein led off the inning with a home run. Major League veteran Cody Asche closed out the scoring the frame with a grand slam. Salt Lake has now surrendered three bases loaded blasts in their last four games. Down 7-0, the Bees broke through for a run in the fourth on an RBI single by Michael Barash. After the 51s added two more runs in the fifth, Salt Lake picked up their final run of the game on a leadoff homer in the sixth by Jabari Blash, his PCL leading 23rd of the season.

Bees starter Osmer Morales (4-3) was charged with the loss, as went just two and two-third innings and allowed seven runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and three walks. Blash had two hits and one run batted in, while Matt Thaiss added two hits, including a double. Jose Miguel Fernandez singled in the first inning to extend his hitting streak to nine games. Blash now has fourteen hits in his last nine games with seven homers and eleven RBI. This is the first time this season that Salt Lake has lost five in a row and they have been outscored 58-9 during the skid.
