Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Albuquerque, NM - On an evening in which pregame rain showers meant temperatures dipped into the mid 60s, Isotopes Park proved to be a pitcher-friendly environment.
Albuquerque starter Jeff Criswell worked six innings of five-hit, two-run ball while Nick Davila allowed just two runs and four hits in seven frames for Tacoma. The Rainiers manufactured the go-ahead run on a Jake Scheiner sacrifice fly in the eighth, and closed out a 3-2 victory over the Isotopes.
Topes Scope: - Criswell completed six innings for the second consecutive outing, allowing five hits and two runs. It was his first quality start since the final day of the 2022 season for Triple-A Las Vegas at Sacramento.
- Tonight marked the first time both starting pitchers completed six frames in an Isotopes game since Aug. 11, 2022 when Brandon Gold (6.0) and Reno's Drey Jameson (7.0) accomplished the feat.
- Albuquerque has not won back-to-back ballgames since April 16-18, the finale at El Paso and series opener vs. Oklahoma City.
- The Isotopes dropped to 4-8 in games decided by one run, and 3-4 at home.
- Pat Valaika entered as a pinch-runner for the Rainiers in the eighth inning. It was his first appearance at Isotopes Park since Aug. 29, 2019, when he was 1-for-4 in Albuquerque's home finale.
- The Isotopes completed their fifth consecutive game without an error, a season-best. They have been miscue free in 24 of 41 contests.
- Albuquerque did not record an extra-base hit in a ballgame for the third time in 2023 (April 1 at Round Rock, May 11 at Las Vegas).
- This tied for the lowest scoring game of the season at Isotopes Park, as the Dodgers defeated Albuquerque 3-2 on April 22.
- Yonathan Daza brought home both Isotopes runs with a single in the fifth inning, extending his hit streak to five games. He has five RBI in the last two contests.
On Deck: The Isotopes will strive to get back in the win column tomorrow at 6:35 pm. In a matchup of crafty veteran left-handers, Ty Blach is scheduled to start for Albuquerque against Tacoma's Tommy Milone.
