Potomac Nationals News Release

MYRTLE BEACH, SC- After splitting the first two games of a three-game set in Myrtle Beach, the P-Nats and Pelicans looked to square off in the rubber match Sunday evening to decide who would be departing the oceanside city with a series victory. Unfortunately for the two squads, Mother Nature had other ideas and decided to send a severe thunderstorm their way as the finale between Potomac and Myrtle Beach has been postponed due to rain.

No makeup date has been announced as of yet because Potomac does not return to Myrtle Beach in the first half of the season. The likely scenario would see the game being made up as part of a doubleheader when the Pelicans play a four-game series at Pfitzner Stadium June 4-7. A similar situation arose when the finale of a three-game series at Pfitzner Stadium between the Nats and Frederick Keys was rained out on May 3 with the rescheduled contest being played on June 12 when the P-Nats return to Frederick.

The Nationals will now hit the road to take on the powerful Kinston Indians in a four-game series. Game one will feature lefty Will Atwood, who was scheduled to make the start Sunday in Myrtle Beach, getting the start in game one. The appearance at BB&T Coastal Field would have been a homecoming of sorts for Atwood. A native of Piedmont, South Carolina, Atwood also attended the University of South Carolina before he was drafted by the Nationals in the 12th round of the 2008 draft.

You can catch all the action between the Nationals and Indians live on www.potomacnationals.com with Dan McGinn and Anthony Masterson starting with the pregame show at 6:45 ET.
