Kinston Indians News Release

Sunday afternoon's game between Kinston and Frederick was suspended in the bottom of the first inning due to rain. The game will be picked up and completed as part of a double header next weekend when Kinston travels to Frederick, Maryland for a weekend series.

Kinston starter Joey Mahalic, making his Carolina League debut, had trouble in the first inning walking three of the first four batters he faced. With the bases loaded and one out a ground ball to the second baseman was mishandled and a potential double play turned into one out and one run. After another walk an RBI single by Frederick's Wally Crancer made the score 2-0. Before the rains came, Kinston got off to a good start in the bottom of the first inning when Johnny Drennen singled and Adam Davis reached base with a bunt. Kinston had runners at first and third base with nobody out before rain halted play.

The K-Tribe continues their seven game homestand Monday night at Historic Grainger Stadium. The Advanced A Affiliate of the Washington Nationals, Potomac, makes the trip to Kinston for four games. Monday night is Crystal Coast Night, where residents of the Crystal Coast and Havelock get a reduced price ticket and everyone enjoys Buck Night Specials (fries, hot dogs, drinks). Russell Young will take the mound for Kinston, game time 7pm.
