Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks used a bases-loaded walk to Ronnie Bourquin to drop the Sioux City Explorers 3-2 on Friday night at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, ND. The start of the game was delayed by 60 minutes due to rain.

The Explorers were not able to get too comfortable with Taylor Stanton pitching, as they would only have three hits in the first 6.0 innings. Stanton would give up two total runs, one earned.

The 'Hawks were able to string together three hits with the first hitters, when Zach Penprase opened the game with a single, Sawyer Carroll added one of his own, and Ronnie Bourquin found a gap to bring in Penprase and the score was 1-0 RedHawks. Nic Jackson lined a sacrifice fly into right field and brought in Carroll to make it 2-0.

In the bottom of the fourth, Andres Perez was able to reach on a fielder's choice to be later sent home by Tommy Mendonca's sacrifice fly to cut the 'Hawks lead in half, 2-1. The only other run they were able to get was Mendonca, after being walked by Stanton. This walk wrapped up Stanton's night, for impressive 6 innings with 4 hits, 2 earned runs, 2 walks and 4 strike-outs.

Nine innings were not enough for either of the team to take the W, however, the RedHawks came out on top in the bottom of the 10th inning, when Brandon Newton singled, Travis Higgs followed it with one of his own, and a walk on bases loaded by Kevin Long gave the Fargo-Moorhead team the victory.

The game took 3 hours and 17 minutes after the delay, and 4,078 fans witnessed the RedHawks take the third straight, as well as watch the post-game fireworks.

The third game of the series will take place tomorrow at 6pm. Fans can purchase their tickets at fmredhawks.com or by calling 701-235-6161.
