Cleburne Railroaders News Release

CLEBURNE, Texas - Rafael Palmeiro finished with his second multi-RBI game of 2018, but the Railroaders finished with just six hits in a 3-2 loss to the Lincoln Saltdogs on Saturday night.

Palmeiro cut the Lincoln deficit to one run in the 9th when he drove Patrick Palmeiro in with an RBI groundout for the first out of the inning.

Rafael opened the scoring with a two-out RBI single down the right-field line in the 1st inning.

The Saltdogs responded in the 5th, when Nathaniel Maggio led off with a four-pitch walk and eventually scored on Brandon Jacobs's RBI single to tie the game.

The 'Dogs took the lead in the 6th, when they loaded the bases with nobody out and Simpson drove in his second run of the year with an RBI single to center field.

Simpson added insurance for Lincoln in the 8th inning when he doubled into the gap in right-center to score Maggio. Maggio scored twice and Simpson finished with a pair of RBI.

Cleburne starter Patrick Young went five-plus innings, giving up four hits and a pair of runs with five walks and eight strikeouts. Lincoln starter Kyle Kinman, signed a few hours before first pitch, yielded one run on five hits with a walk and five strikeouts in five innings of work.

Cleburne has now won consecutive games four times this year, but has yet to win three straight. K.C. Huth went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles, while Trevor Sealey went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Blake Grant-Parks reached two more times and Patrick Palmeiro clubbed his first triple of the year.

The teams wrap up the three-game series with the 'Dogs with the rubber match on Sunday. First pitch time is 6:05 p.m., and RHP Roman Gomez will throw for Cleburne against Saltdogs' righty Austin Robichaux. Tickets can be purchased at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by calling (817) 945-8705.
