
Railroaders Fall behind early, Lose to 'Cats

CLEBURNE, Texas -- Levi Scott hit a pair of solo homers, but the Railroaders gave up eight runs in the 2nd inning and lost 11-4 in the third game against the Gary SouthShore RailCats at The Depot on Saturday night.
Scott homered in the 4th and 6th innings, but the RailCats sent 11 to the plate and scored eight times without recording an out in the 2nd inning. Jared Mortensen gave up nine runs over seven innings of work, receiving his third consecutive loss.
Tillman Pugh hit a three-run homer in the eight-run 2nd inning, Will Savage drove in a pair of runs with a single and Ronnie Mitchell led off the inning with a solo homer off the right-field foul pole.
Cleburne got a pair of runs back on Scott's homer, but Scott Plaza gave up three runs - two earned - over 6.1 innings in his first start of the season.
Cam Monger doubled and scored on a throwing error in the 7th inning, but the RailCats scored twice more in the 8th inning after Will Savage singled in a run and scored on a three-base error from K.C. Huth after overrunning the ball in center field.
Chase Simpson doubled in 8th inning and scored Trevor Sealey, who went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles. Catcher Mike Gulino went 0-for-4 with a sharp liner and flyout in his professional debut, but the bottom of the Cleburne order went 0-for-11 with four strikeouts.
Cleburne has lost each of the first three games of the series and has now lost 10 consecutive games for the first time in franchise history.
Game 4 of the five-game series is set for tomorrow evening at 6:05 p.m. RHP Josh Hodges will throw for the Cleburne Railroaders while RHP Gabe Perez will toss for the RailCats.
