RailHawks To Play Charlotte Eagles

CARY, N.C. (Wednesday, June 02, 2010) - The Carolina RailHawks have learned their opponent for the first round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The RailHawks will host the Charlotte Eagles of the United Soccer Leagues Second Division on Tuesday, June 15 at 7 p.m. at WakeMed Soccer Park. The match will be played on Field Two and all tickets for the event will be $5. In addition all draft beer at the event will be only $1. Tickets can be purchased at the LGFCU Box Office, by visiting www.carolinarailhawks.com or by calling 919-859-5425. Season ticket holders will use their ticket for "Game B".

"We are focused on our next game in Portland right now," said RailHawks coach Martin Rennie. "We will be looking forward to the US Open Cup when we return from our road trip. It is a very prestigious and exciting tournament to be involved in."

The RailHawks also have learned that their opponent for the second round, should they advance, will be the winner of the Charleston Battery - CASL Elite match. The CASL Elite adult amateur team is comprised of many former RailHawks including Chris McClellan, Steven Curfman, David Sartorio and former head coach Scott Schweitzer. The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, which is recognized as U.S. Soccer's National Championship, is an annual competition open to all amateur and professional soccer teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. The tournament has crowned a champion for 95 consecutive years dating back to 1914.

This week the RailHawks travel to Portland on June 6 and Vancouver on June 9 before returning to WakeMed Soccer Park for the First Round of the US Open Cup on June 15. The next regular season match will be on Saturday, June 19 at 7 p.m. when the RailHawks host Crystal Palace Baltimore. It will be "Bark in the Park" night and fans are encouraged to bring their pets to the stadium. The RailHawks will also be celebrating "Father's Day" and the organization will be honoring all dads throughout the evening with giveaways and prizes to be announced on Monday.
