North Carolina FC News Release

CARY, NC - The Carolina RailHawks have signed midfielder Jonathon Orlando ahead of the 2016 Spring Season. Orlando, an impressive goal scorer and opportunity creator, will provide an additional threat to the RailHawks' attack.

"Jonathon is a great addition to the team and we are excited to have him," said RailHawks Head Coach, Colin Clarke. "He has the ability to change a game and we look forward to seeing him on the pitch in 2016."

Orlando grew up playing soccer in the Washington, DC area. He attended the University of the District of Columbia, where he took over the attack and led the Firebirds squad. Orlando was the team leader in a whopping six categories: goals, assists, points, game-winning goals, shots on goal, and shots.

At the conclusion of his freshman season in 2005, Orlando ranked 8th in goals scored among all NCAA Division II schools. Orlando also ranked 10th in points per game among Division II schools, earning himself substantial recognition in the league.

The RailHawks roster is now comprised of 21 players: two goalkeepers (Akira Fitzgerald and Brian Sylvestre), seven defenders (Drew Beckie, Paul Black, Kupono Low, Simon Mensing, Steven Miller, Kareem Moses and Connor Tobin), nine midfielders (Nazmi Albadawi, Marvin Ceballos, Austin da Luz, James Marcelin, Alex Pérez, Tiyi Shipalane, Matt Watson, Jeremy Kelly, and Jonathon Orlando), and three forwards (Aly Alberto Hassan, Billy Schuler, and Brian Shriver).

Be sure to come out to WakeMed Soccer Park this spring to check out the RailHawks' revamped squad and to celebrate the franchise's new ownership and 10th anniversary season. The RailHawks kick off the regular season at home on Saturday, April 2nd against Minnesota United FC.
