RailHawks Sign Experienced Midfielder Gabriel Da Silva

Cary, NC (August 28, 2015) - The Carolina RailHawks announced on Friday that they have signed Gabriel Vittorio Da Silva for the remainder of the 2015 NASL season.

The 27-year-old Brazilian midfielder will strengthen the roster and help the RailHawks push for a spot in the NASL Championship.

"Gabriel is a very experienced and dynamic player," said RailHawks Head Coach Colin Clarke. He knows what our expectations are and is ready to contribute to the team right away."

Da Silva began his career in Brazil playing with the prestigious squad Santos FC at the age of 18. After Santos FC, Da Silva played for Coritiba FC for six months and then traveled to the Czech Republic to play for FC Vyso?ina Jihlava.

Da Silva excelled in his six years with FC Vyso?ina Jihlava, appearing in 64 games from 2009 to 2012 and logging 4,790 minutes. In the 2010-2011 season, he scored a goal and started 21 matches. He later went on to play in Slovakia for DAC Dunajaskà Streda. Following his time in Slovakia, Da Silva played for Grêmio Barueri in Brazil for six months before traveling back to Europe to join NK Bistra in Croatia.

The RailHawks roster is now comprised of 25 players: two goalkeepers (Hunter Gilstrap and Akira Fitzgerald), six defenders (Connor Tobin, Daniel Scott, Blake Wagner, Kupono Low, Austen King, and Futty Danso), ten midfielders (Tiyi Shipalane, Leo Osaki, Chris Nurse, Neal Hlavaty, Jamie Dell, Austin da Luz, Jack Coleman, Mark Anderson, Nazmi Albadawi, and Gabriel Da Silva) and seven forwards (Wells Thompson, Mamadee Nyepon, Nacho Novo, Tyler Engel, Dzenan Catic, Simone Bracalello, and Bradlee Baladez).

Da Silva and the RailHawks will continue NASL play on Sunday, August 30th as they travel to New York to face the Cosmos.

The RailHawks will return to WakeMed Soccer Park on Friday, September 4th at 7:30 pm to host Atlanta Silverbacks.
